The main bridge closure of Xinglian Road Project in Changsha City has been successfully completed

The Changsha Xinglian Road project which invested and constructed by Changsha Transportation Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. and undertaken by China First Highway Engineering Group Co., Ltd., has successfully lifted the steel beams of the main bridge's mid span closure section in 8th November 2024, This marks the closure of the main bridge of the twin tower stay cable bridge, the project has been fully connected and will be ready for operation by the end of this year.

The Xinglian Road Project is located in the north of Changsha City, spanning both Wangcheng District and Kaifu District. The total length of the project is 5.475km, and the main bridge crossing the Xiangjiang River is a twin tower stay cable bridge with a span of (165+380+165) meters. It is the largest municipal stay cable bridge in Hunan Province in terms of single investment. The bridge deck is 38.5 meters wide and has eight lanes in both directions. It is the widest, largest single span, and longest river crossing bridge under construction in Changsha. The main beam adopts PK type separated double box steel-concrete composite beam type, with a total of 77 beam segments and 4 × 17 pairs of parallel steel wire stay cables. The inclined cable adopts high-strength, low relaxation parallel steel wire inclined cable with a nominal diameter of 7mm galvanized aluminum alloy. The standard tensile strength of the steel wire is 1860MPa, and meets six specifications including PES7-163, PES7-1999, PES7-223, PES7-253, PES7-283, and PES7-313. The net weight of the stay cable steel wire for the entire bridge is 1295 tons, and the weight of the finished cable is 1495 tons. It is manufactured and produced by the Hubei factory base of OVM, and the installation and construction of the stay cables are carried out by OVM.

After the completion of the project, it will further improve the road network structure of Changsha, effectively alleviate the traffic pressure of the North Second Ring Road in Changsha, and become one of the important channels connecting cities such as Yiyang and Changde to Changsha.
